Privacy Policy
We believe privacy is a right, not a feature. Here is exactly how we handle your data.
1. Overview
Money Hive is designed with privacy as its foundational principle. We believe your financial data is among the most sensitive information you have, and we treat it that way.
The core of our privacy commitment: your financial transaction data is stored locally on your device and processed by on-device AI. It is never transmitted to Money Hive servers or sold to third parties.
2. Data We Collect
We collect minimal data necessary to operate the service:
— Crash reports and diagnostic logs (anonymized, no financial data included)
— App usage analytics (aggregate only, no individual transaction data)
— Device type and OS version (for compatibility and support purposes)
— Email address (only if you contact our support team)
We do NOT collect: transaction data, wallet balances, spending history, budgets, goals, or any financial information you enter into the app.
3. On-Device AI
All AI features in Money Hive run entirely on your device using Apple's Core ML framework (iOS) or Google's ML Kit (Android). The AI model is downloaded once and then operates locally.
No financial data is sent to our servers, third-party AI providers, or any external service for AI processing. Your spending patterns, anomaly detection, and coaching recommendations are computed entirely on-device.
4. Cloud Backup
If you enable cloud backup (iCloud or Google Drive), your data is encrypted on your device using AES-256 encryption before it is transmitted. The encryption key is derived from your personal passphrase and stored only on your device.
Money Hive employees cannot access your backed-up data. We do not hold your encryption keys. If you forget your passphrase, we cannot recover your backup.
5. Third-Party Services
Money Hive uses the following third-party services:
— Apple App Store / Google Play Store (app distribution)
— Exchange rate API (currency conversion rates only — no personal data sent)
— Crash reporting SDK (anonymized diagnostic data only)
We do not use advertising networks, behavioral tracking SDKs, or data broker integrations of any kind.
6. Data Retention
Transaction and financial data lives on your device and is deleted when you delete the app or clear your local data. If you have cloud backup enabled, deleting your backup from iCloud or Google Drive is handled through Apple or Google's respective interfaces.
Any support communications are retained for up to 2 years and then permanently deleted.
7. Children's Privacy
Money Hive is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us and we will take steps to delete it promptly.
8. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights including:
— The right to access data we hold about you
— The right to delete your data
— The right to opt out of analytics collection
— The right to data portability
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@moneyhive.app. Since most of your data lives on your device, you already have direct control over it.
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or via email (if you have provided one for support purposes). Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
